Local scene
Watched "For the First Time" with some buddies. And funnily enough, it's my first time to watch a Pinoy movie at the big screen (other than the mandatory "Mano Po 1"). What can I say, I'm one of the people who's curious about KC. She's just so so pretty. The movie's the same formulaic romantic comedy though. It's not bad except for their weirdly super quick courtship and for the excess drama at the second half. They really should learn how to edit the drama. Way too many tears.
One thing that popped out to me was KC's character's scar at her right arm. When I saw it, I was like, hey, wait a minute, that's Padma Lakshmi's scar! Same shape, same arm, and same back story too. The placement is almost the same except Padma's scar can be easily seen whereas KC's is patago. Another thing that made me react was when Richard's character asked KC to meet him at the Calderon at Santorini. I was like, wait a minute, isn't this from Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 4? Coincidences... or not?
I heard Sara Geronimo's movie was a lot better though. Sayang, missed that already. Jologs na ba ako? mwehehe, but I really enjoyed the movie experience. I am so used to seeing foreign places and foreign people on the big screen that seeing local scenes up there is really refreshing.

The night I watched the movie was the night of the Eraserheads reunion. I only learned about it the day before the concert. Am I so unattached to local news that I didn't know this? Anyway, as we all heard by now, the concert was cut short because Ely Buendia experienced some chest pains during the intermission and had to be rushed to the hospital. From the news it's said he's recovering well after his surgery. I hope so and I hope there will be another concert.
The E-heads is THE Pinoy band of our generation. I'm actually not much of an OPM fan but I love their music. Their songs not only sound good but their lyrics are really of different stuff - thoughtful, funny, and uniquely Filipino. Even before I was interested in music I remember loving "Ang Huling El Bimbo". I was in grade 4 or 5 I think when it shot to fame. It was heard everywhere but I never got tired of it. The song's lyrics was moving even for a kid like me. I think it's my first favorite song and is still a favorite up til now. It was really sad when they disbanded. Sila na lang nga yung OPM music ko, nawala pa. There are other bands out there like Rivermaya, Parokya, 6 Cycle, Bamboo, but for me no one comes close. So I hope they have another reunion show and I would want to be there. Can you imagine songs like "Pare Ko", "Magasin", "Alapaap" live?? That would be electrifying. Ultraelectromagnetic to be exact.
